Bathing Babies:

As a newborn becomes a baby, everything begins to change, including the way they take baths. As soon as your little one starts sitting up (and sometimes slightly sooner than this), they will be too big for any of the normal little baby bathtubs. So, it is time to take a step up.

One of the best ways to bathe a baby that can sit up is in the kitchen sink. You will obviously want to make sure that the sink is not just clean, but disinfected as well. Just as with a newborn, you will want to make sure that the temperature is perfect—not too warm or cold, and you will want to have everything you need on hand before beginning the bath (including baby washrag, soaps, shampoos, towels, etc.).

One of the big differences between bathing a newborn and bathing an older baby is that bath time is a lot more fun for older babies. This is when you can start bringing toys, such as a rubber ducky, for your child to play with. There are many different kinds of bath toys for babies of this age that can make bath time a blast for a baby.

Even though your baby is sitting up at this age, it is still very important not to leave your child alone for even a tiny period of time. There are several reasons for this, including them trying to climb out, they could slip and fall over into the water, or worse.

Once your baby is sitting up well, another bathing method is to buy a bath ring. This is a ring that suctions to the bottom of the tub, and the baby sits inside it. These can be a very useful thing to have at this time, and they help the baby not slip and fall over when bathing. There is one bothersome trait to these, though, and it is that when it comes time to bathe the baby's bottom and the back of their legs, it is slightly difficult to maneuver them around to reach these areas.

The only other bad thing about these bath rings is that too many parents get a sense of false security when using them. They feel as though their baby is completely safe, and that they can leave the room to do something without any problems. This isn’t the case, though. The baby can lean over, and if they lean far enough, or at just the right angle, it can cause the suction cups to come undone and the whole ring can tip over sideways.

If this happens, the baby is in worse shape than if they had fallen over without the ring. Then, they could at least have the opportunity to sit back up when they need to. In this situation, though, it is utterly impossible for them to manage to get back up.

As long as you use it properly, and don't depend on it too much, the bath ring can be a very wonderful thing, and it can be used all the way up until your baby is a year old or more.
